Blue Mountains E-Bike Hire to Hanging Rock

106 Reviews

4 hours

Overview

This is a self-guided e-bike hire experience in the Blue Mountains, taking you along the Burramoko Ridge fire trail to Hanging Rock. It is aimed at riders who want an active day outdoors without taking on a huge distance or lots of climbing. The big draw is the scenery: wide gorge views, golden cliffs and, on a clear day, a glimpse of the Sydney CBD in the distance. It is described as suitable for beginners, but you should still be comfortable riding and have at least a moderate level of fitness.

Free cancellation

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Why backpackers love it

This suits travellers who want a half-day outdoors without needing a guided group the whole time. The e-bike makes the ride more approachable, while still giving you that proper Blue Mountains feeling once you are out on the trail. It is a good option if you are after views and fresh air rather than a full-on mountain biking challenge. Just keep in mind it is not the cheapest activity, and the day only goes ahead if minimum numbers are met, so a bit of flexibility helps.

What to expect

You will be set up with an electric bike, with glove hire and basic spares like a tube, pump and tyre levers included. From there, this is a self-guided ride, so you will make your own way along the Burramoko Ridge fire trail towards Hanging Rock. The route is relatively short with limited climbs, and the e-bike helps take the edge off the effort. At the lookout, expect a raw natural setting with no gates or fences at the edge, so you will need to take care, especially as some areas are loose underfoot. Start and finish times can vary and are confirmed the night before. You will also need photo ID and an active credit card on the day.
