This guided Segway tour is a different way to see the Whitsunday Bicentennial Boardwalk without covering the route on foot. You’ll ride from Airlie Beach to Cannonvale with a local guide, taking in coastal views along the way, then stop for an included dinner as the sun goes down over the Whitsundays. It suits travellers who want a small-group sightseeing option that feels a bit more hands-on than a standard bus tour.
Why backpackers love it
It’s an easy way to fit in some decent views, a meal and transport without needing to organise much yourself. The included pickups, guide and equipment keep things simple, and riding a Segway makes the boardwalk feel more fun than just walking it. It’s not the cheapest activity, and there are a few fitness and weight restrictions, but for a short stay in Airlie Beach it’s a straightforward way to do something a bit different at sunset.
The tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off, plus all the gear you need including a helmet. After getting set up and riding your own Segway, you’ll follow the boardwalk between Airlie Beach and Cannonvale with your guide leading the way. On the return leg, there’s a stop for dinner timed with sunset views over the water. Photos are included via social media. The tour runs in all weather, so dress for the conditions. Riders need moderate fitness, must be able to stand unaided, and need to fall within the recommended weight range of 45kg to 117kg. Minimum age is 12.
