Overview
This is a three-day Open Water Diver certification course on the Gold Coast with a proper ocean diving finish, not just pool and classroom training. Along with the certification, it includes a double dive trip to Cook Island Aquatic Reserve, where you’ll do two guided dives among local marine life such as turtles, rays and reef fish. It is a good option if you want to learn to dive and come away with a real first dive experience included in the price.

What to expect
The course runs over 72 hours and is designed for beginners working towards Open Water certification. After completing the training, you’ll head out to Cook Island Aquatic Reserve for two guided ocean dives that are included as part of the course. This gives you the chance to put your skills into practice in a proper marine environment. You’ll need to be at least 10 years old, able to swim 200 metres and float for 10 minutes, and have at least a moderate level of fitness. If you are over 45 or have pre-existing medical conditions, a current AS4005.1 dive medical is required. Keep in mind that flying within 18 to 24 hours after scuba diving is not recommended.
