Jellurgal Walkabout Tour

This small-group cultural tour gives you a more grounded way to experience Burleigh Headland than a standard sightseeing walk. Starting at the Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, you’ll be introduced to the stories, history and ongoing connection the Yugambeh language-speaking people have with this part of the Gold Coast. From there, an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander guide leads you through the landscape, pointing out places of cultural importance and sharing knowledge about bush tucker and traditional practices.

The tour begins at the Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre with an audio-visual presentation covering Dreaming stories and local cultural connections to the land. After that, you’ll head out on a guided walk through Burleigh Heads National Park. Along the way, your guide explains sacred sites, traditional food sources and the significance of places including Tallebudgera Creek and Echo Beach. You’ll also get wide views over the Pacific, with the chance to spot wildlife such as dolphins and sea eagles. The experience is wheelchair accessible and suitable for all fitness levels.
