Private McLaren Vale Wine Tour

This is a private full-day wine tour for groups of up to four who want a more tailored day in McLaren Vale. Instead of joining a larger bus tour, you travel with your own driver-guide in a luxury 4WD and shape the itinerary around your group’s taste, subject to winery availability. It suits travellers who are happy to pay more for privacy, flexibility and a day that feels less standardised.

The tour can include well-known cellar doors like d'Arenberg, Alpha Box & Dice, Samuels Gorge, Hugh Hamilton, Wirra Wirra, Mitolo, Dowie Doole, Olivers Taranga, Yangarra Estate, Serafino and Coriole, along with smaller producers that mainly sell through their cellar doors. Lunch can also be arranged at a winery or restaurant to match your preferences.

Your day runs for around 7 to 8 hours and is built around your group rather than a fixed group schedule. You’ll travel privately with an experienced driver-guide who knows the region and can help organise winery visits based on what you want to drink and where you’d like to go, depending on availability.

Some groups focus on bigger-name wineries, while others mix those with smaller cellar doors for something less obvious. In some cases, behind-the-scenes visits and barrel tastings with winemakers may be possible, also subject to availability. The pace is more flexible than a standard coach tour, and lunch can be organised during the day at a winery or restaurant.
