Rottnest Island Tandem Skydive

1 to 4 hours

Overview

If you want a big-ticket Rottnest memory, this is the one. This tandem skydive takes you up over the island for views across Rottnest, the WA coastline and out towards Perth, before you jump with a professional instructor. It is a premium activity rather than a budget day out, but for travellers wanting a serious adrenaline hit and standout views, it packs a lot into a short time.

Why backpackers love it

This is the kind of splurge people book when they want one genuinely huge travel moment rather than another standard sightseeing activity. The beach landing gives it a proper Rottnest edge, and the short overall run time means it can fit into a broader island day. It is also easier to commit to knowing cancellation is available up to 24 hours before departure, though you do need to factor in weather checks and the fitness requirements.

What to expect

You will be paired with a professional tandem instructor and head up for a scenic flight to altitude above Rottnest Island. Once you jump, expect up to 66 seconds of freefall, followed by around 5 minutes under the parachute with clear views over the island below. The experience finishes with a beach landing. Weather can affect operations, so you need to check conditions at least one hour before your ferry departure on the day. The minimum age is 16, and anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian present. A 95 kg weight limit applies unless pre-approved.
