Daintree River Dawn Wildlife Cruise

This early morning cruise is a good pick if you want to see the Daintree River at its calmest and most photogenic, with a strong focus on wildlife spotting. Over two hours, you’ll explore the main river and nearby tributaries looking for birds such as kingfishers, herons, egrets and frogmouths, along with crocodiles and snakes. Group numbers are capped at 10, which keeps it quieter and gives the guide room to tailor the trip to what passengers are most interested in.

The cruise starts and finishes at the public boat ramp in Daintree Village. Once on the water, the guide takes you along the main river and into tributaries where wildlife is often seen in the early morning. The boat uses both a standard outboard and an electric motor, which helps reduce disturbance and can make sightings easier. This is a roofless vessel, though dual Bimini covers can be put up if the weather turns. Bring a hat and a jacket, especially for cooler or changeable conditions. There are no transfers, and there is no public transport to Daintree Village, so you’ll need your own way there.
