Afternoon Discovery Cruise with Cataract Gorge

This afternoon cruise is a relaxed way to see more of Launceston and the Tamar Valley from the water. Over 2.5 hours, you’ll head into Cataract Gorge, pass through Launceston’s riverfront precinct and continue north along the Tamar River past Tamar Island, historic buildings, vineyards, farms and small river communities. It’s a sightseeing-focused trip rather than an active one, with the main draw being the views and the changing landscape along the river.

The cruise departs at 3 pm and starts by heading into Cataract Gorge before moving through Launceston’s waterfront area. From there, you’ll travel north past Tamar Island and riverside landmarks including St Mathias Church and the Rosevears Pub. As the boat continues through the Rosevears and Windermere districts, expect a mix of working farmland, vineyards, wildlife and local life along the riverbanks. The experience is designed as a narrated look at the history and character of the Tamar Valley from the water.
