Broome Sunset Camel Ride on Cable Beach

This is a classic Broome sunset activity: a one-hour camel ride along Cable Beach as the light drops over the Indian Ocean. It’s a straightforward sightseeing experience rather than an adventure tour, and the appeal is really the setting, the photos and the novelty of riding a camel by the water at sunset. If you’re only in Broome for a short stay and want to tick off one of the town’s best-known experiences, this is an easy one to plan.

You’ll join the operator for a guided camel ride on Cable Beach in the late afternoon or early evening, timed for sunset. The ride lasts around an hour and follows the beach, giving you open coastal views as the sky changes colour. After the ride, you can give your camel a carrot, which is supplied. There is a strict 90kg weight limit per passenger, and travellers above that limit cannot take part. Infants must sit on an adult’s lap.
