Winemaking Class at McCaffrey's Estate

This is a hands-on wine blending class where you’ll learn about red wine and make your own bottle to take away. It’s a more interactive option than a standard cellar door tasting, with a focus on blending and wine education rather than just sampling what’s already on the menu. With small group numbers and a take-home bottle included, it suits travellers who want something a bit different in the Hunter Valley and don’t mind paying more for a guided, niche experience.

The session runs for around 1 hour 30 minutes and centres on red wine blending. You’ll be guided through the basics, taste the wines involved, and learn how blending changes the final result. The main draw is creating your own blend, which is then bottled for you to take home. The experience runs with a minimum of two people and a maximum of 14, so it stays fairly personal rather than feeling like a big group activity. Service animals are allowed, and it’s not recommended for pregnant travellers.
