Daintree Rainforest Half-Day Tour with River Cruise

This half-day trip gives you a solid taste of the Daintree without taking up your whole day. It combines a guided walk through Mossman Gorge with a river cruise on the Daintree River, so you get both rainforest scenery and a good chance of spotting wildlife. Along the way, there’s freshly baked morning tea with plunger coffee and Daintree Tea, plus time for a swim in the clear waters of the Mossman River if conditions suit. At AUD 135, it sits more in the small guided tour category than a shoestring backpacker activity, but it covers a lot in a short time.

The tour starts at Mossman Gorge, where your guide leads a walk through this UNESCO World Heritage rainforest area and points out some of what makes the landscape special. You’ll then have the chance to cool off with a swim in the Mossman River’s clear water before stopping for morning tea with baked treats, coffee and tea. After that, the experience continues on the Daintree River, where you’ll cruise through the mangroves and watch for wildlife including saltwater crocodiles and birdlife. A moderate level of fitness is recommended, and it’s not advised for travellers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health.
