Ngana Julaymba Dungay Full-Day Cultural Tour

This full-day cultural tour gives you time on Country with a local Aboriginal guide, learning about the land, history and traditions of the Kuku Yalanji people. It focuses on culturally significant places in the Daintree and the ongoing relationship local Aboriginal people have with the area. Along the way, you’ll explore rainforest and coastal habitats, learn about native foods and medicines, and take part in hands-on activities including bush tucker tasting and traditional hunting practices.

Over the day, you’ll visit both rainforest and coastal environments with your guide explaining how the landscape has been used and cared for over generations. The experience includes a guided walk, learning about plants used for food and medicine, sampling bush tucker, collecting shellfish and trying traditional Aboriginal hunting techniques. You’ll also have a go at spear throwing, and if conditions line up, you may catch a mud crab. The day finishes with a chance to cool off in a pristine freshwater stream.
