2-Day Uluru and Kata Tjuta Tour from Alice Springs to Yulara

13 Reviews

2 days

Overview

This two-day small-group trip is a practical way to see both Uluru and Kata Tjuta if you want transport, guiding and overnight accommodation sorted in one booking. You’ll travel through Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park with an accredited outback driver-guide, hear more about the landscape and local culture, and visit Aboriginal rock art sites along the way. It’s a camping-based tour, with a night at a permanent outback campsite near Uluru and the choice of a twin safari tent or a more traditional swag setup. The tour starts in Alice Springs and finishes in Yulara, so it suits travellers moving through the Red Centre rather than returning to Alice.

Free cancellation

If you cancel at least 6 full day(s) before the scheduled departure time, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel between 2 and 6 day(s) before the scheduled departure time, you will receive a 50% refund. If you cancel within 2 day(s) of the scheduled departure, you will receive a 0% refund.

Why backpackers love it

It takes care of the big logistics in a remote part of Australia: transport from Alice Springs, park entry, guiding and a night’s accommodation. The small-group setup makes it easier to meet people, and the shared camp tasks give it more of a social trip feel than a standard coach tour. It’s also a good fit if you’re heading onward to Yulara rather than backtracking. Just be aware this is not a lazy sightseeing option — the walks need a moderate to fairly strong fitness level, and it won’t suit anyone with mobility issues.

What to expect

Expect an active couple of days with road travel, guided bush walks of around 5km and time at both major sites in the national park. Your guide leads the experience and shares commentary throughout the trip, including cultural context and local insight. The national park pass is included, and you’ll stay overnight at a permanent campsite in the Uluru area. This is a hands-on style of trip, so travellers are asked to help with meal prep, clean-up and loading or unpacking the vehicle. Pack light, as luggage is limited to one 15kg travel bag and one 5kg day bag.
